Knowledge Adventure Home Video was the home video division of video-game publisher Knowledge Adventure. The company shut down in 2003 due to disappointing video sales of their VHS tapes. Two years later, Geo LTD. Home Entertainment (via Universal Studios Home Entertainment starting in 2008) purchased the remaining of Knowledge Adventure Home Video's assets, and re-released the videos on DVD in 2006.
In 1996, following the success of the JumpStart games, Knowledge Adventure announced that a home video unit would be made. The deal was finalized and the company was founded in 1997. At the time of the founding, the company released JumpStart videos, JumpStart Preschool: Who Left the Juice in the Caboose? and JumpStart Kindergarten: Why Did the Bus Stop?, both in 1999.
Decline and closure Edit
While the JumpStart games increased popularity, the video sales for the JumpStart videos began to decline. In 2002, the company released JumpStart Jukebox, which contains 19 songs from all of their games released so far. The sales continued to decline, until in December 2002, Knowledge Adventure Home Video filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company began to liquidate its assets until it concluded in April 2003.
After the company's closure, the remaining assets of Knowledge Adventure Home Video were sold to Geo LTD. Home Entertainment. The company later re-released the videos on DVD in 2006 via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and on Blu-ray in 2013 via Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
