Production Edit

On December 23, 2014, it was announced that Geo LTD. Animation is developing a computer-animated film titled The World of Bono, with the film being directed by C. Elbourn. According to Elbourn, the film is based on an original idea by himself, not the Irish lead singer for the band U2 of the same name, but Elbourn named the title character after Bono of U2. On May 11, 2015, Patton Oswalt and Steve Buscemi joined the film. Teresa Cheng, Jim Anderson, Amy McNeill, and David K. Thompson would produce the film based on a script by C. Elbourn. In October 2015, more casting was announced, including Ryan Potter of the Big Hero 6 fame.

A teaser trailer for the film was released on December 20, 2016.
